Each clinical trial has its own set of conditions and criteria for those who are eligible to participate. As long as you meet those criteria, you are eligible to participate. After receiving your application, we will check to see if you meet all of the related criteria via a medical consultation and medical check-up.

The main conditions for not being able to participate in a clinical trial are as follows:

The dates to participate in the clinical trials are set beforehand, so we kindly ask all volunteers to make any necessary changes so that their schedules accommodate the clinical trial schedule. Thus from the beginning when searching for clinical trials you are interested in participating in, please choose the dates that are most convenient for you.

Yes. Moreover, if you bring a friend who is new to clinical trials, you will also be eligible to receive a referral fee.
However, please note that if either you or your friend do not meet the requirements to participate in the clinical trial, you will not be able to participate with them.

Health criteria such as height and weight measurements, blood samples, urine samples, and electrocardiograms are checked and evaluated, much in the same way as they are done for general medical check-ups.

In order to obtain accurate data, please be sure to follow all instructions from the hospital during your participation in the trial. You will have plenty of free time to spend doing whatever activities you like (as long as they do not interfere with the clinical trial), such as playing computer games, reading, etc. The hospital is also equipped with Wi-fi for your convenience.

All meals during participation are provided by the hospital. While some may imagine tasteless hospital food, the clinical trial will provide you with regular meals and delicious boxed lunches that most Japanese normally eat.

You can take a bath at the hospital at times designated by the hospital.

Because clinical trials need to be strictly regulated for patient safety and study accuracy reasons, volunteers are usually not allowed to go outside during the study period, unless otherwise stipulated by the hospital conducting the trial.

Unfortunately no, you are not allowed to see friends and family at the hospital, or go to visit them, during your stay.

Of course you can quit participating in a clinical trial at any time. However, if there are not compelling reasons for quitting the clinical trial after deciding to participate, it is possible you may not be selected to participate in another clinical trial in the future, or the cooperation fee may be reduced. For these reasons, we kindly recommend that you make your decision to participate or withdraw from a clinical trial carefully.

A “Cooperation Fee” is a fee paid to volunteers for any burden (e.g., use of their time, body, or lifestyle restrictions) that may be placed on them as a result of their participation in a clinical trial. You will receive this payment in exchange for your cooperation in participating in the trial.

Depending on the clinical trial you are participating in and the hospital where it is conducted, you may be able to receive it in installments up to the end of the clinical trial, or you may receive it in full after the clinical trial is completed. We recommend that you contact the hospital when you will participate in the clinical trial, or ask them when you are contacted by phone.

All fees for a clinical trial, related medical check-up(s), hospital accommodations, and meals are free. Transportation to and from the hospital may also be covered by the study stipend. Clinical trials are subject to a washout period (the period of time before a patient can participate in another clinical trial). The washout period is approximately between 3 and 4 months.
